Cusp of Night by Mae Clair
Release Date: June 12, 2018
Mystery... Thriller & Suspense... Paranormal

As you can see, my sweet friend Mae Clair has a new book coming soon and I am excited to share the news! I have already pre-ordered this book and I am sure that after you read the blurb, you'll want to do the same!

BLURB: Recently settled in Hode’s Hill, Pennsylvania, Maya Sinclair is enthralled by the town’s folklore, especially the legend about a centuries-old monster. A devil-like creature with uncanny abilities responsible for several horrific murders, the Fiend has evolved into the stuff of urban myth. But the past lives again when Maya witnesses an assault during the annual “Fiend Fest.” The victim is developer Leland Hode, patriarch of the town’s most powerful family, and he was attacked by someone dressed like the Fiend. Compelled to discover who is behind the attack and why, Maya uncovers a shortlist of enemies of the Hode clan. The mystery deepens when she finds the journal of a late nineteenth-century spiritualist who once lived in Maya’s house—a woman whose ghost may still linger. Known as the Blue Lady of Hode’s Hill due to a genetic condition, Lucinda Glass vanished without a trace and was believed to be one of the Fiend’s tragic victims. The disappearance of a young couple, combined with more sightings of the monster, trigger Maya to join forces with Leland’s son Collin. But the closer she gets to unearthing the truth, the closer she comes to a hidden world of twisted secrets, insanity, and evil that refuses to die . . .

Then at middle age, you made a film comeback in the steamy His Obsession and Madame Senator—for which you won a well-deserved Academy Award! INTERVIEW WITH JOE COSENTINO author of PORCELAIN DOLL, a Jana Lane mystery, published by Wild Rose Press!

Hello and Welcome Joe! I'm happy to have you here and to learn a little bit more about you and your fabulous new book!

So tell us, what inspired you to become a writer?

After college I became an actor in film, television, and theatre, working opposite stars like Bruce Willis, Nathan Lane, Rosie O’Donnell, Holland Taylor, and Jason Robards. Sorry to name drop! Morphing into writing plays and now novels seem like the perfect progression. I knew my novels would include show business in some way, since show business has always been such a huge part of my life. As an avid mystery reader, it was clear to me that my novels would also be page-turning mysteries with clever plot twists, engaging characters, romance, and lots of clues leading to a surprising conclusion. Since coming from a funny Italian-American family, I also knew humor would play a role in my novels.

Can you tell us a little bit about creating the Jana Lane mystery series?

Marlene Bateman, author of A Crooked House, Gives Tips on Characterization!

I am pleased to take part in Marlene Bateman's Blog Tour as she presents A Crooked House and some tips on Characterization!

Every author wants to capture their reader’s interest and one of the best ways to do this is by using effective, efficient characterization. Your story will only succeed if the people in it fascinate, anger, please, tickle, or otherwise affect the reader. You have to have believable, interesting characters. Readers want to become involved with the characters they read about.

To make your readers feel something for your character, you must make your character a specific person—you must strike a chord you know to be universal; such as fear, love, revenge, ambition, insecurity, etc. Work to give your readers someone they can identify with. To do this, you’ll want to pick out useful characteristics from the following list. Pick out a few things—not everything:

Author Mae Clair talks TWELFTH SUN and her Attraction to the Sea!

On this beautiful TWELFTH day of September, I am thrilled to have the very talented author, Mae Clair pay us a visit while we celebrate the release of her highly entertaining, highly recommended, absolutely must have, must read novel,  TWELFTH SUN...

An Attraction to the Sea

Debbie, thanks so much for inviting me to be your guest today. I always love hanging out at your blog, browsing through the fascinating snippets of ghostly history you unearth. I’m delighted to be here and excited to share my new release, a romantic mystery called TWELFTH SUN.

From the time I was a kid, I’ve been enamored of old sailing vessels and nautical folklore. The eastern seaboard is a second home to me and I dream of someday living in a quaint coastal village. Beach settings inspire me, and I’m instantly intrigued by any snippet of maritime folklore I stumble across.

As a result, it seemed only natural to weave those elements into my romantic mystery, TWELFTH SUN.
