Deep in Romania, the Spooky Forest of Hoia-Baciu

For all of those who have asked and asked (thank you so very much, you don't know how happy that makes me...) Bound by Oath and Honour, is now available in paperback, audio (narrated by the amazing Andrew McDermott) and ebook format, all published by The Wild Rose Press!

Beautiful Cover by Debbie Taylor!

And so it is with great pleasure I bring you the world's most haunted forest...or so they claim. And why not? In Bound by Oath and Honour, quite a bit happens inside a creepy forest in Romania.

Okay... here we go.

Very near the city of Cluj-Napoca, you'll find--if you choose--the Hoia-Baciu Forest. Now this particular forest is often referred to as the Bermuda Triangle of Romania. Over the passing decades, many people who have visited the woodland have reported some really bizarre paranormal activity and unexplained events.

Creepy, Crawly, Rustling, Bustling by Theodor Kittlesen

Like what you ask?

Well, some have seen ghosts. Yep, that's what they said. Ghosts. Some have heard female voices that speak or giggle without a female (or anyone else for that matter) anywhere in sight. Unexplained apparitions are noted, such as radiant, luminescent orbs and whatnot. Then we have unknown and unseen faces photo bombing various pictures guests have taken of friends and family. Worse yet? Many creeped out visitors claim to have been physically assaulted. They are burned, scratched, overwhelmed by nausea, migraines, high anxiety, and well, you get the drift.

Did I mention the disappearances of both people and time?

Some believe this particular forest is a portal to a parallel dimension. While deep inside the woodland people have disappeared without a trace. Time disappears as well. According to one such legend, a little girl--five years of age--was lost somewhere inside Hoia-Baciu. Despite a thorough, extended search, she was never found. Finally, they gave her up for lost. Then one day, five years later, she simply walked out wearing the same clothes she wore the day she was lost. What's more? Those clothes didn't show any signs of wear, whatsoever. She had no idea where she'd been or even how long she'd been gone. Many visitors have reported losing time as well, with no idea as to where they were or what they did during those lost hours.

One last thing. Some of the locals will tell you the woods are haunted by Romanian peasants who were murdered there and from all accounts, they aren't happy! The spirits of these tortured souls have appeared to the living from time to time and scared the daylights out of them. So much so, that most of them have never visited the forest again.

There you have it... the haunted, otherworldly forest of Hoia Baciu. So tell me, would you venture inside with the hope you would have a story to tell??

While you're mulling that over...

Fresh from her photo shoot in Northern England, wildlife photographer Tala Westbrook makes a promised stop at the family manor in Staffordshire, desperately in need of renovation. Though she didn’t plan to stay longer than it took to find a contractor, she is caught up in an ancient paranormal war. Despite the danger all around, she finds herself falling for the handsome, enigmatic man assigned to protect her.

Micah Berrington, elite guardian from the realm of the Bewitan Fierd, is used to protecting men of strength in the greatest of peril, not a female looking for someone to repair her home. Yet the assignment is far more than it seems and so is the beautiful woman destined to capture his heart, regardless of the cost.

  1. Hoia-Baciu is indeed a creepy place. I have a good friend online who lives in Romania and often blogs about the legends and folklore of her country. She's shared tales of Hoia-Baciu, too. There is no way you'd catch me creeping into that forest.

BTW, love the blurb for Bound by Oath and Honour. I'm looking forward to the release. If you'd like a spot on my blog, just yell. You know the door is always open! :)
