Author Nicki Greenwood Stops by for an Interview!

I am really happy to have Nicki Greenwood with us today! She has graciously agreed to answer a few questions so we can all get to know her--and her books-- a little better! I also want you to know that her newest book, Air (which sounds absolutely wonderful) will be released April 3rd, 2015, so be sure to mark that on your calendars!

Blurb:

Air Elemental Elsa Pemberley is a born idealist. Instead of resenting her power over the wind, she uses it to help others. The best way to do that is to chase storms in the heart of Tornado Alley. She meets her match in Harrison Litchfield, a man who is fleeing from a past both treacherous and tragic. Masquerading as a traveling blues singer, he has managed to keep moving, but beautiful Elsa stops him in his tracks.

She makes a life out of chasing. He’s made a living by running. When Harry’s past catches up to them both during a devastating storm, there’s only one thing to do—hold on tight with both hands...

Okay then on with the questions!

So Nicki, what do you do when you are not writing?

A) I draw, decorate, garden, do web design and freelance editing, and make regular trips to my local Renaissance Faire.

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

A) Walter Farley’s Black Stallion series comes to mind.  As a suburban, horse-deprived girl, I read them voraciously.  It opened up a world where anything might happen and introduced me to the real joy of fiction.  Since then, several authors have influenced my work, but now, I draw much more on what grabs me in films and screenwriting.  I’m a very visual author without much free time, so the shorthand of movies inspires me a lot.

Do you have a book trailer?

A) I have book trailers for all of my full-length novels, which can be found on their pages at my website.

Where is one place in the world that you would really love to visit someday?

A) There are so many places that I started writing about them. I know I’ll never be able to afford to visit them all, so this is the next best thing!  Pinterest is a great website for the armchair traveler, too.

Where is your favorite place to travel?

A) “North Star” at Deep River, Canada is my idea of heaven.  You can find photos of this amazing place on my Facebook page, and the sunrises and sunsets are particularly breathtaking.  It’s a true getaway where the peace just soaks into your soul.

Do you prefer print books or ebooks?

A) I used to be a “print book snob,” but as E-readers got better and more popular, the ebook grew on me. I love carrying an entire library in my hand!

Do you prefer snow or rain?

A) Rain – especially after the winter we’ve had!  A drizzly day makes me want to curl up inside with a book and read to the background of the raindrops.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

A) Write books!  It’s been a roller coaster ride I’ll never forget, and one of which I’m terribly proud because it was something I always said I’d do.  Everything after that is just icing on the cake.

What is your favorite theme park?

A) Darien Lake. That’s where I met my husband!

Do you have a green thumb for plants?

A) Since I love to garden, I’d like to say yes ... but the truth is, a plant fares better when I ignore it! The only houseplants I manage to keep alive are Golden Pothos and Peace Lily.

Tell us about the first story you ever wrote and how old you were.

A) Oh, my.  I still had it until not too long ago.  Something about being shrunk to three inches tall, and I was in early grade school!

Who is your favorite actor?

A) Hugh Jackman.  All that, and versatility, too.  Sigh.

Do you play an instrument? If so what?

A) I bought an ocarina at one of my trips to the Renaissance Faire, and I’ve been tinkering with it ever since.  I wouldn’t dare call it “playing” the instrument, as that would require skill.  LOL

Are you currently working on any new projects? What can we expect from you in the future?

A) I’m currently writing FIRE, the fourth and final book in The Elemental Series.  After that, I plan to stretch my writing in a new direction, which is still under wraps at the moment, while continuing to write romance novels.  I’m excited about this new challenge, and I hope readers will love it as much as I love working on it!

Where can your followers find you?

  3. Thanks Tammy and Mae! Storm chasing is one of those extreme vacation type of things I think would be awesome to try (even though it's probably pretty terrifying up close!). Have a great day!
